I'm on the hunt for caster wheels that can lock when weight is applied. I know about compression casters for office chairs, but I'm looking for something more robust. Ideally, these should be able to securely hold up under heavy use. Has anyone come across anything like this?

Yeah, there are casters that lock when they’re under load, and others that lock when they're not. It all depends on the design. If you’re having trouble finding them online, I’d suggest browsing directly through hardware store websites. They might have more options than your usual searches.
I've only seen locking casters on lighter stuff, like those plastic step stools you see in stores. I'm not sure they make heavy-duty versions. Still, you could convert some regular ones if you're crafty!
You might want to check out machine casters. They offer a good balance of mobility and stability, somewhat like fixed feet. These should handle heavier loads without issue.
