Are These Tie-Down Rings Safe for My Solar Shade?

I recently moved into a rental in Arizona and want to set up some canopies to help keep my backyard shaded from the heat that's about to kick in. I've noticed some tie-down rings installed on the exterior frame of the house, and I'm curious if they'll hold up for a simple triangular solar shade. The rings are spaced about 19 feet apart. It really depends on how well those rings are anchored. For peace of mind, I’d suggest checking the anchors to ensure they're secured properly to the structure. Better safe than sorry!

I've used similar tie-down rings for my solar shades before, and they worked just fine! I can't guarantee they're engineered for the load, but they held up well for me without issues.

I've got the same type of rings, and trust me, they're more than strong enough for a solar shade. Just make sure you've got good screws in there!

You might want to consider the length of the screws. Those beams seem pretty solid, but 4-inch construction screws would be ideal. If you can, go for a 3/8" through bolt with a welded eye and a big washer to avoid any pull-through.

Those rings look sturdy enough, but make sure the wood they're attached to is in good shape. You don’t want the screws pulling out, so check for any signs of rot or splitting.
