Are uneven gaps in hexagon mosaic tile installation normal?

I'm remodeling my bathroom and chose hexagon mosaic tiles for the shower floor. However, after the installation by my contractor, I noticed the spacing between the tiles is quite uneven, with some actually touching each other. Is it fair for me to expect my contractor to redo the tiles for better spacing? I learned that they don't typically use spacers for mosaic tiles, but could using them make a difference?

It's pretty common for mosaic tiles to have uneven gaps if the shower bed isn't perfectly flat. Spacers are essential no matter what type of tile you're using; they can help ensure an even layout. Honestly, it seems like your contractor might be cutting corners here. They should be more diligent about getting it right.

Have you ever worked with hex mosaic tiles? When they come on mats, it's a hassle to get everything perfectly aligned across the sheets. It does take more time, so some might skip the spacers to save on labor.
