I recently moved into a new house that doesn't have a built-in hot tub, and I really miss having one since I've had multiple back surgeries. In my previous home, I took care of a pool and hot tub, and now that we're renovating this new place, I found some like-new jacuzzi or whirlpool tubs that could fit well in the bathroom we're transforming. I'm wondering if these types of tubs are worth it. Do people usually leave the water in them like a regular hot tub, or do they drain it after each use? Are they effective, or just a gimmick? Also, how reliable are they? Do they leak? I'd love to hear your thoughts on whether this is a smart idea or not!

I actually just swapped mine out for a garden tub because my wife got tired of the black water that would sometimes come out of the jets. She loves the new setup much better! Just be cautious if you decide to go for a whirlpool; maintenance can be a pain.
From what I've heard, whirlpool tubs usually get drained after each use to keep them clean, which is a bit of a drag since it wastes water. I'd recommend just sticking to a regular tub and getting a proper hot tub outside instead. That way you avoid any leaks or constant maintenance issues that whirlpool tubs can bring.
I can share my experience: we typically drain ours after each use, and we mostly use it as a regular tub rather than for jets because the noise is pretty noticeable in a bathroom. If you’re coming from a real hot tub background, though, I'd say go for the whirlpool! Just make sure you clear the jets after use so they don't clog up. We've had ours for over five years with no issues so far.
Yeah, that air purge feature is important! It really helps keep everything running smoothly.

That’s good to know! I didn’t realize you could clear the jets like that. Sounds like a solid plan if I do decide to get one.
