I'm looking for a good precision marking tool to help with layout saw cuts and tab holes in thin plywood. I've been considering Woodpecker's marking tools, but I'm curious about alternative options that might be cheaper but still effective. My project involves wood pieces no larger than 2 feet, and I need accuracy within about 1/32 inch (0.75 mm). What are your thoughts on the Woodpecker tools versus other brands?

You might also want to look into panel gauges—those are handy for precision work. I’ve seen them before but didn’t really know what they were called until now! They're definitely worth considering if you want something reliable.
Honestly, if you need 1/32" precision, you don't necessarily have to go for the Woodpeckers. They have crazy accuracy but it might be overkill for woodworking. A lot of the stuff at your local big box store can do the job just fine—just make sure to check them for accuracy before buying. Quality control is key with the cheaper tools, but if you find a good one, it should work perfectly for your needs.
Thanks for the tip! I know the Woodpecker tool is priced way higher than similar options.
Yeah, I think Woodpecker tools are overpriced, but they do get good reviews. If you're on a budget, try picking up a few framing squares from Home Depot. Test them out and return the ones that don’t meet your standards. Also, consider a steel framing square since you can really fine-tune it if needed. I've had my old framing square since the 90s, and it's still super accurate even after all the years of use!

Thanks! I'll definitely check those out.
