I recently spent a long time sifting through the soil of a plant full of millipedes. It felt gross, but I couldn't bear to part with it! They say millipedes are actually beneficial in the garden, so I'm hoping I made the right call. Sometimes, love for the plant makes it hard to let go!
It really depends on how bad the infestation is and the plant's importance to me. If it's a small, unimportant plant that's overrun, I'm quick to toss it. But right now, I love all my plants, so I do everything I can to keep them pest-free! I'm currently battling spider mites and thrips, which is no fun but worth the effort for my favorites.
I rely on Zevo bug catchers and sticky traps to handle pests. If things get too out of hand, I quarantine the plant in the garage. I once had a lovely ponytail palm with mealybugs, but I rescued it with neem oil. Emotional attachment definitely plays a role in how I handle infestations!
