Hey everyone! I'm on the hunt for a planer and while I know DeWalt is a solid option, I'm curious if there are any good, more affordable alternatives out there. I've heard of brands like Metabo and Triton—is it worth checking them out? Appreciate any advice you can share! Thanks 🙂

If you're looking to save some cash, check out the used market for a DeWalt DW735. They're pretty common, so you can often find great deals. I snagged one in nearly new condition for just $400, and it's fantastic! Definitely a solid choice if you can find one.
As a DW735 owner, I can tell you that it's an amazing machine. But honestly, if you’re just a hobbyist, you don’t need to go for the high-end models. Any decent lunch box planer like a Ryobi or HF Bauer will do just fine, especially if you keep the blades sharp. The main differences are noise levels, dust collection, and how well they hold up. If you find a good deal on a 733, go for it! And make sure to check used ones for smooth operation and any potential issues.
I’m leaning towards the 733 since I’m just a hobbyist. Thanks for the insight!

What about the 733? Is it any good?
