I'm on the hunt for budget-friendly squares that are genuinely 90 degrees. I would love to get my hands on a Woodpeckers model, but the price just doesn't make sense for me right now. Any suggestions?

I've had good luck with inexpensive machinist squares. I also picked up a Japanese square from Rockler that turned out to be really accurate after I cleaned up a little damage from a drop. If you're feeling adventurous, making your own try square can be an enjoyable way to nail down precision skills too!
Making your own is a great idea! Plus, it’s a fun project that can help you understand how to achieve accuracy in your future work.
