Best Annual Flowers to Grow Indoors with Kids?

I'm looking for suggestions on annual flowers that can be grown indoors from seed for an entire season. My 5-year-old is really excited about growing flowers in his bedroom, which has a bright south-facing window. I'd love to find some options that are sturdy and can bloom consistently through the summer. It seems that most of the advice online focuses on starting annuals indoors before moving them outside, which isn't quite what I need. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

You could also try shorter plants like petunias, zinnias, or even moss roses. They're all suitable for container growth and can be pruned to keep them at a manageable size. If you're open to perennials, daffodils and tulips can be grown indoors too; just remember to care for them after blooming for next year!

Marigolds are a fantastic choice! I've been growing my grandma’s marigolds, which have been in the family for ages. They thrive indoors as long as you keep them in a large pot and water them regularly. You might want to look for smaller varieties that would fit nicely in your kid's bedroom. They're also pretty hardy, making them great for little hands! Good luck with your flower project!

Those marigolds sound amazing! Love the family connection. I might try planting some in pots this year too.

How fun for your little one! You might want to consider African violets. They prefer bright, indirect light and are relatively low maintenance. They love to be kept slightly moist, which can help prevent pests like gnats. Plus, you can find them in a rainbow of colors! Perfect for kids to enjoy both growing and caring for them!
