Best Blinds or Curtains for South-Facing Windows to Reduce Glare?

I'm looking for some advice on window treatments for my south-facing window. I've tried a blackout blind before, but it made the room feel way too dark since I only have one window. The window is right above my TV, so during bright, cloudy days, the glare is pretty annoying. I also tried regular blinds, but they let in too much sun because of the gaps, especially since the window is higher than where I sit. I'm hoping to find something that will let in natural light without causing glare, and I don't want the room to be too dark. Any suggestions?

You might want to look into using a frosted non-adhesive window film. It can help with privacy while still allowing light in, and it’s easy to apply. Just avoid darker tints because they can trap heat and potentially damage your window seals.

For versatility, I recommend Bali double-cellular shades that adjust from both the top and bottom. They let in light but aren’t completely blackout. Complement them with fabric blackout curtains on a rod for extra darkness when needed. This setup provides great light control and insulation with a quick pull back for full brightness!

I had a similar issue with my windows. I ended up using sheer curtains paired with heavier woven ones. The heavier curtains can be pulled back for light while the sheers help diffuse the glare. It also gives a nice classy look to the room!

Have you considered using a screen shade? They can effectively block glare while still allowing some natural light in. They’re great for preventing that harsh sunlight without darkening your space too much.
