Hey everyone! I've noticed some bugs on my container plants—specifically, there are some green ones and some black bugs that look a bit like fleas (though I know they're not). Last year, I had a big infestation, and I've now got all new soil this year, so I want to tackle any potential issues early on. I'm gardening on my back deck in the Midwest and we've had a lot of rain lately. I'm growing tomatoes, potatoes, and herbs.
Thanks for any tips! Also, if anyone could help me with adding a photo to this post, I'd really appreciate it!

It's hard to identify the bugs without a picture. But if you're trying to add one, you can edit your post by clicking on your profile in the upper right, then going to 'Posts.' Find your post, click the three dots on the top right, and choose 'Edit Post.' You'll see an icon that looks like a mountain and sun for uploading images.
For pest control, I recommend using mosquito bits on the soil to prevent fungus gnats. If you already have bugs, consider using organic options like neem oil or diatomaceous earth. Some pests can just be washed off with water, while others might need to be picked off by hand. Let me know once you've added a photo; we can help you more once we see what you’re dealing with! Good luck!
You might be dealing with black aphids. Occasionally, they get mixed in with soil too. It’s best to act quickly—aphids can be tricky. A photo would help confirm if that’s the case.
I think the green ones are aphids, but they seem to be gone right now. Wish I could have snapped a pic, but I haven’t seen them lately!
