Best CAD Software for Woodworking: Free or Paid Recommendations?

Asked By CraftyWoodworker92 On

I'm looking to boost my woodworking skills with some 3D modeling. What CAD software would you recommend specifically for woodworking and construction? I'm open to options that have a free trial or free version, but I'm also willing to pay for quality software. One thing that frustrates me is how many tools are now subscription-based. I've heard about using older versions of SketchUp—does anyone know where to find those installers? Or should I consider other software instead? Thanks!

SketchUp is great for beginners, but if you're looking for advanced features, give Fusion 360 a shot. There's a free hobbyist license available, which is fantastic. The learning curve is a bit steeper, but it offers way more capabilities for complex designs most woodworking projects might require.

I've had a lot of success with the web-based version of SketchUp, and the best part is it's free! It's straightforward and easy to get started with, perfect for woodworking projects.
