Best Climbing Plants for Winter Fence Privacy?

Hey everyone! I'm a first-time gardener and need some advice to help with privacy in my yard. We have a fenced-in area, but since we live on a corner lot, it feels pretty exposed. I'm hoping to plant some climbing plants along the fence that can provide coverage, especially during the winter months. Are there any climbing plants that hold their leaves or remain appealing in winter? I'm in zone 6A in Southern Maine, so the climate can be a bit tough. What do you suggest? Is English Ivy a good option, or should I look at something like winter jasmine? I'd love to hear from anyone in New England who has dealt with this! Thanks in advance!

How about considering some varieties of Clematis? They can offer flowers and some winter interest depending on the type you choose!

I wouldn’t recommend English Ivy; it can be really invasive and doesn't stay looking good in winter. Instead, think about using a row of columnar evergreens. They stay green year-round and can really help with privacy!

Totally agree! Evergreens are a solid choice for winter coverage, plus they look great all year!
