I'm planning a large vegetable garden with about twenty raised beds that are each 4' x 4' and 2' deep. I've found some cheap compost from Timberline at Lowes for $2 a bag, but I've heard it contains a lot of rocks and sand, which isn't ideal. I've also looked into Black Kow, but it doesn't seem to have the best reputation. I'm not really interested in making my own compost because I want to avoid a pile in my backyard. I have a tumbler, but it doesn't produce much. What are some affordable compost alternatives that others have used successfully? Or should I just brace myself to spend a bit more on quality compost?

Honestly, going for a bulk delivery could save you a ton of money instead of buying bags. It might seem like a hassle to deal with someone, but it’s definitely worth it for the amount you need!
With so many beds, you should consider getting raised bed mix sold by the yard. If you do the math right, you can avoid ending up with a big pile in your yard, plus it’ll usually be better quality.
You might want to think about using the soil you already have. Doing a normal garden could work well, and it might help you save on compost costs.
