Best Demo Blades for Cutting Wood and Shingles?

I'm in the process of tearing down an old 9x9 shed using a sawzall. I have some experience with woodworking but I've never done any demolition before. I'm looking for advice on what type of demo blade would be best for cutting through both plywood and shingles. How many blades should I plan on having for this job? I'm aware that demo blades are necessary, but I'd love to know if there's a certain brand or type that you experienced folks recommend. Would one or two blades suffice, or should I get a pack of five? Thanks for your help!

For your project, I'd suggest using a 9-12” carbide-tipped demo blade that's meant for cutting wood with nails – something like the Diablo Demo Demon Carbide or the Milwaukee AX Carbide. Since you're dealing with shingles, which can really wear blades down, expect to go through about three to five blades for the roof part. If you can strip the shingles off first with a tear-off shovel, you might only need one or two blades for the rest of the sheathing. Just remember to wear eye protection and a respirator!

Thanks for the suggestion! I appreciate the specific blade recommendations. I've done some building, but this is my first demo. Good tip about the protection too!

There are definitely demo blades designed for cutting through wood and nails. I’d recommend grabbing a five-pack of the longer ones. Even if you have some left over, better safe than sorry!

I get that! I just want to make sure I pick the right ones since there are so many different options. Any particular brand you like for those long demo blades?
