Hey everyone! I'm in the market for a DeWalt circular saw and I've been hearing a lot about the worm drive type. I'm hoping to get some recommendations for a good saw that suits a DIYer like me, mainly for home projects. Thanks in advance for your help!

I usually go for the 60v circular saw, but I have a 20v I grab for demolition jobs. It's lighter which makes it easier to handle, especially when you’re tearing things down.
Honestly, a worm drive saw isn’t really necessary for simple DIY projects. If you want something powerful, check out the 60v circular saw; it can handle just about anything you need around the house.
You might want to start with a corded saw. For about $100, you can get a decent circular saw. While Dewalt’s cheapest is around $170, I'd suggest the Ridgid circular saw at $120. Just make sure to keep the receipt for the Lifetime Warranty and maybe invest that extra cash in clamps—they really help with straight cuts!
If you're open to buying second-hand, I’ve seen both the DCS577 and DCS578 60v models for under $100 in great condition on Marketplace. Worth checking out if you want to save some cash!
Also, definitely keep an eye on promos! DeWalt often has deals where you can buy batteries and get tools for free. And with Labor Day coming up, check places like Home Depot and Lowe’s for awesome tool bundles that work with the 20v battery system.
For DIYers, I'd recommend the 6 1/2" DCS565—it’s a solid choice. If you're looking for something a bit more professional, the DCS577 worm drive is great, but it might be overkill for typical home use. The DCS590, a 7 1/4" model, is also a good middle ground, though it has a blade-right design which some people prefer over the left.

Great tip about the clamps! Thanks for the advice!
