I'm building a 40x40x16 shop for various activities like woodworking, vehicle maintenance, and just tinkering in general. I'm trying to figure out the best layout for the doors on the front wall. I'm planning to dedicate the left 10 feet to stationary items like a workbench and storage bins. I want two garage doors along with a man door, ideally situated between the garage doors to make it convenient to access my truck and trailer when parked side by side. How should I position everything for the best workflow and accessibility?

Why not put the man door on the side where you’ve got your stationary things? That way it’s more out of the way of the garage doors. Also, consider having a second man door at the opposite end of the shop – makes it easier to navigate when you're hauling stuff in and out.
One suggestion would be to consider adding an attic space if your design allows for it. That way, you’ll have extra storage for things you might not use all the time. For the door sizes, definitely go for the tallest garage doors you can manage – you won't regret having the height for larger vehicles. I appreciate the tips! I love the idea of tall garage doors but I’m wary about the attic since I have issues with heat up in Alaska. I’m sticking to smaller windows, and I'm definitely focusing on power outlets for all my equipment.

I’m planning to keep my man door between the two garage doors to maximize access space. That way, even if I have large items coming in, I can still move freely. Sounds like I’m on the right track with my layout!
Great idea! I’m leaning toward having the man door placed to the side on my workstation wall. It’ll keep the main access area less cluttered.
