Best Dryer Vent Solution: Flex Hose or Semi-Rigid Duct?

Hey everyone! I just moved into a house built in the early 90s and I'm having some trouble with the dryer vent setup. The duct runs down through the crawl space and exits on the side of the house. The previous owner used a 4-inch flexible hose from the laundry room that connects to a solid metal duct all the way outside. However, to meet code, I can't fit a 4-inch smooth duct up into the space connecting to the laundry room. The only options that fit are either a 4-inch flex hose or a slightly smashed 4-inch semi-rigid duct. Which would you choose? A flexible hose that fits perfectly or a semi-rigid duct that's a bit bent?

You could consider running an oval duct through the wall or floor and then using an oval-to-round adapter on each end. This could save you some space and meet code requirements without compromising airflow. Good idea to check out pictures online for better clarity!

I’m currently standing in Home Depot with an oval duct in hand! How would I make a 90-degree turn to connect it to my laundry room vent though? I can get it up to where my vent is, but how do I tie it off to my dryer? Any tips?
