Best Hammer Drill for Anchoring Tents?

Asked By CuriousCat292 On

I'm looking for some advice on selecting a hammer drill for anchoring pop-up tents with 16-inch stakes to safeguard my Halloween decorations from bad weather. I initially thought about getting the 1007 model, but it feels like overkill. Is there a more suitable hammer drill that comes with a handle and can handle this job? Thanks!

It really depends on how big you're going to make those holes. A larger drill works better for bigger holes, especially when you’re digging deep. Honestly, I'd rather have the extra power and not need it than to be stuck without it when the time comes. You might be able to snag a solid deal on the older 998 or 999 models, too. I found the 999 for about $80 at my local service center, and it's still pretty capable compared to the 1007.

I’m using these spikes for anchoring: [link]. I also spotted a tempting deal at Lowe's for the 1007 and two 8AH XR Powerpacks for just $350.
