I'm looking for recommendations on a handsaw suitable for dovetail cutting and trimming off dowels and inserts. Should I go for a double-sided saw or perhaps something similar to a Japanese style? Would love to hear your thoughts! Thanks!

I wouldn't recommend using the same saw for dovetails and flush cutting. For dovetails, a specialized dovetail saw would be best; it has a thin blade and usually comes with a brass stiffener to help with stability, ensuring precise cuts. For trimming dowels, a flush cut saw works better since it's designed to be flexible and avoid marring surfaces. You might want to consider having both types for the best results!
Thanks, yeah I wasn't sure if it would be 2 different saws. I am good with getting both. Thanks!
