Best Heating Options for a 700 sqft House in New England?

I'm planning to remodel my 700 square foot house in New England soon and I'm looking for advice on heating options for both hot water and hot air. Since there will be two people living here and later it will be a rental, I'm trying to figure out what the best and most cost-effective solutions are. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Consider installing a heat pump along with a tankless combi system. Super insulating your home would make a big difference too! It keeps everything efficient while reducing your energy bills.

That sounds interesting! Does anyone know roughly what the cost would be for that setup?

If your house is well insulated, you might only need a couple of hundred watt incandescent lights and maybe a pellet stove to create some nice ambiance. But really, there are a lot of factors to consider. If you can get natural gas, that’s a great option. If you’re using town electric and have good insulation, stick with that. My plumber friends often recommend propane over oil if you don’t have electric. Just a heads up, though – a lot of states are pushing for all-electric options, and that can get pricey with no guarantees on rate hikes in the future! Personally, I’m trying to install a mix of electric, fossil, and solid fuel systems as time goes on.

Yeah, I’m in the same boat. I can’t go with nat gas, but I’m definitely hooked up with electric.
