I'm moving into a new place soon and I'm really interested in having houseplants that can help clean the air and thrive indoors. I don't have any pets, so I'm not worried about toxicity. While I have some outdoor plants that are food-related, I would love to know if it's feasible to grow food inside pots as well. Are lemon trees suitable for indoor growth? What about other trees or herbs? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Spider plants, Yucca, and jade plants are all fantastic options that are easy to care for and forgiving if you forget to water them occasionally.
Consider picking up a variety pack of houseplants from Amazon; they usually sell packs for around $30. Just make sure to get the right soil mix when you pot them. It'll set you up for success!
You might want to check out some freebie sites to see if anyone has extra cuttings they can share. Spider plants are great indoors. Plus, herbs like basil are perfect for indoor growth. Oh, and if you’re interested in trees, a bonsai could be a fun option!
If you’re just starting out with indoor plants, I’d recommend going for snake plants or spider plants first. They’re super easy to care for and don't require much attention. After those, peace lilies and pothos are great, though I find my peace lily can be a bit tricky sometimes, and pothos might grow a bit wild if you're not careful.
Fruit trees can be tricky to grow indoors since they need a lot of direct sunlight. I’ve had a struggling orange tree for years, but it hasn’t thrived much. For easy houseplants, pothos or monstera are good choices if you want something sizeable. And yes, you can definitely grow herbs indoors! Have you heard of Aquagarden? It’s a cool little setup that lets you grow herbs right in your kitchen!
