I'm skilled in making coffee and gaming tables, but now I'm onto a new project. My wife wants a round coffee table that can comfortably accommodate four chairs. The catch is, she also wants it to be adjustable so we can raise the tabletop to card-playing height, which is pretty much at elbow level. I'm looking for creative ideas to make this work!

One option is to use an office chair piston mechanism. It could give you the adjustable height you need, although you might want to consider how stable it would be when raised.
You could make the legs fold up for coffee table height and down for card table height. This would provide that versatility without much hassle.
Consider a design with two sets of legs: one set attached to the tabletop and another set that connects to the feet with holes drilled at various heights. You’d pull the legs to select a height, secured with dowels or bolts.
I've done something similar for smaller tables but wasn’t sure about lifting multiple dowels. I might sketch it out to see how it feels!
That's a good point! I’m a little worried about stability, but I like the concept.
