Best Long-Lasting Retractable Casters for a Workbench?

Asked By CraftyNinja89 On

Hey everyone! I'm looking for recommendations on long-lasting retractable casters for my workbench/outfeed table. I need something that can handle a decent load, spins well even after extended use, and ideally, won't cost me more than $50 per leg. I previously bought some from Amazon, but they haven't held up—one caster has never spun well, and now they all struggle. If you have suggestions, especially side-mounted options since I'd like to avoid adjusting the height, I'd really appreciate it!

Check out these side-mounted casters I found on Amazon. They were super cheap and make moving my bench a breeze! I’m even planning to add a bar between the pairs so I don’t have to mess with four levers every time I need to shift it.

That’s awesome! I haven’t had any issues with mobility either, but I do make sure to keep the area clean.

I totally get your struggle! I got some from Rockler, but you might also find good ones at Grizzly, Woodcraft, or Lee Valley. I usually search "kick down casters" when I need them, and trust me, any of those brands will beat the no-name ones from Amazon!

Thanks for the tip! So, those Rockler casters hold up well against sawdust over time?
