Hey everyone! I'm a university student looking to add some greenery to my living space, but I'm concerned about what plants would be best. I won't be around for the summer break, as I go home for three months, and I can't take any plants with me. I'm not too worried about care level as long as they can survive on their own. Can anyone suggest some hardy plants that can thrive without attention for that long? Or any tips on keeping plants alive during my absence? I really need some greenery to help me cope with all the study stress!

Consider getting some succulents that go dormant in the heat, like aeoniums or aloes. They love being left alone during summer, and as long as they have enough light, they’ll be just fine when you get back.
ZZ plants are a great choice! Just make sure to give it a good soaking before you leave for the summer, and it should be fine. They only need watering about once every couple of months and are pretty forgiving if you forget.
I’d recommend looking into a Queen of the Night cactus. It can handle long periods without water, but you'll miss the night it blooms! Alternatively, Pothos are good too, though they might need a bit more attention than a cactus. You could set up a slow drip watering system with a punctured water jug to help out.
If you're open to it, Pothos are fantastic! I got a neon Pothos in college, and even after nearly dying a couple of times, it’s now thriving! They love sunlight, so if you can give them a good spot, just water them every couple of weeks and they should do fine without you.

Totally agree! I also tend to forget about mine, but it always bounces back with no problems.
