Best Materials and Techniques for Making Slingshots?

Hey everyone! I'm looking to make some slingshots for my grandkids and I want to know the best way to finish the handle after I've cut it out. Should I go with plywood or regular pine boards? I'm a beginner and I have basic tools like a jigsaw, scroll saw, and table saw. Any tips would be appreciated!

I'd recommend using a solid board instead of plywood. Once you've cut out the shape, try using a rasp to round off the handles, and finish it up with some sandpaper for a smooth feel.

A jigsaw is your best bet for getting those nice curves in your slingshot design. It's pretty easy to handle and will give you the shape you need!

Definitely take a look at some modern slingshot shapes—they've really evolved! Both plywood and pine can work; just keep an eye on the grain direction to avoid weak spots. Use your jigsaw for the rough cut, and then a rasp or heavy-grit sandpaper to refine the shape.
