I'm dealing with a ton of poison ivy and ferns, along with other weeds, and I'm looking for effective ways to safely kill all the vegetation in a specific area of my yard. I want to clear everything out so it looks clean before I start any new landscaping. Any recommendations? Thanks!

Glyphosate can be effective for killing weeds, but if you're specifically targeting poison ivy, make sure to look for the version designed for it. It has a surfactant that helps it penetrate the plant’s waxy coating. You could also opt for a weed torch or even apply Roundup with a paint roller for more precision.

One option is to use pure rock salt like the kind found in ice melt; it works really well. If you want something less harsh, a mixture of vinegar and water can do the trick too, especially if you get the commercial-grade vinegar from a hardware store. Just be cautious, it’s non-selective and will kill anything you spray it on.

Just a heads up! If you decide to kill the poison ivy, remember that the dead leaves and roots still contain the toxins, so handle them with care after clearing them out.
