I'm planning to buy a Makita LS1219L mitre saw soon since I'm getting into woodworking. This will be my first significant investment in tools, and I'll mainly use it in my garage or driveway. I have a good amount of space. I'm looking for recommendations on what type of stand I should get. Do I need to stick with the same brand, or are the mounting mechanisms usually pretty standardized? Also, down the line, I want to create a more permanent mitre saw station, like the one I found in this thread. For now, I'm wondering what would be best for my situation, especially since I might want to use the saw outdoors on my deck in the future. Any advice is appreciated!

Most mitre saw stands come with flexible mounting options, so you shouldn't have trouble finding one that fits your saw. Sometimes, you might need to make minor adjustments, like adding washers or grinding a part, but generally, they work across brands. Personally, I started with a stand but found that it occupied too much space and was a hassle to set up and take down. Since your space is decent, I would recommend building a mitre saw station instead. You’ll get better material support and the ability to set up a fence or stop block for consistent cuts. Plus, it's more convenient for future projects! Good luck!

I get where you're coming from, especially since I've got some garage work to tackle first too. Until I can build a proper mitre station, I think a stand could be useful as a temporary solution. But I'd love to know if others think it’s worthwhile or just a waste of space. I have no experience, so I’m open to any tips!
