Best Modern Irons for Planes – Need Some Recommendations!

Asked By CraftySquirrel42 On

I'm thinking about upgrading to some modern irons for my Sargent 4xx planes after hearing great things about CPM-Magnicut from Zen Wu and Lake Erie. Has anyone here tried these, or does anyone have experience with Zen Wu's ZW-V0? I'd really appreciate your insights before making a purchase!

While I haven’t used the CPM-Magnicut irons, I've really loved my PMV11 irons. They’ve definitely improved my woodworking experience!

I went with a Hock iron for my #4 plane, and the difference is amazing! It's definitely a step up from the original iron I had.

That’s awesome to hear! I've been hesitant about switching, but it sounds like a solid upgrade.

For me, PMV11 is the best choice! I’ve also heard good things about Hock irons—they work wonders too! Definitely worth considering.
