Best Options for Painting or Staining Indoor Concrete Floors

I recently bought a house where the previous owners painted the laundry room's concrete floor. Now, I'm dealing with peeling paint, and I'm unsure how long it's been since it was last painted. I know that staining concrete is generally a better option than painting, but I'm trying to figure out what steps I should take next. Should I just repaint it, or do I need to strip the old paint first and stain it instead? I would prefer the easiest solution that won't require frequent redoing.

If you decide to repaint, just make sure the concrete is clean and free of oil for the new paint to stick. I had a similar issue in my small laundry room, and I went with epoxy instead. It’s held up well but scratches easily and isn’t the most exciting look. Still, it's really solid and durable!

The key to a long-lasting paint job is all in the prep work! My basement concrete has paint that’s over 14 years old and still looks great without any chips. Just make sure you put in the necessary prep time!

There's definitely nothing wrong with painting concrete walls. If you're seeing bubbles or peeling, it’s usually due to moisture problems. But paint will work fine on dry walls!

Tiling could be a great option! It’s something you might want to consider, especially if you’re looking for an alternative to paint. It could give a nice finish and might be easier in the long run.
