Best Orbital Sander Options for Small Hands?

Asked By CleverPineapple88 On

I have a coworker with small hands who's struggling to use our standard orbital sanders because the grips are way too big for her. She's not used to handling power tools, which causes her hands to cramp up while working. We usually use Makita sanders, and we tried a Ryobi, but it's not quite right since the battery attachment makes it tricky. She's looking for a battery-operated sander that can take 5" discs. Any recommendations would be super helpful! Thanks a lot!

Maybe she could try using two hands to help manage the tool better? I've taught wood shop for years and it’s a common trick for handling power tools, but I get that it might not work for every situation.

She can't do that in this case, though. She's holding lightweight frames for assembly. Clamping them could slow her down since she has a lot to do at once!

I’ve been pretty happy with my Bauer orbital sander. It's a plugin version, but it packs a punch and is pretty manageable. Not sure if you’re looking solely for battery-operated, but it’s worth checking out!

Thanks for the tip! I’ll definitely consider it.
