Best Packout Base with Wheels for Electricians?

Asked By ElectricityNinja93 On

I've been doing electrical work for about four years and I'm in the process of building up my Milwaukee packout collection. I currently have the packout cooler, several of their power tools, the square packout bag, a packout fan, and two packout toolboxes. Right now, I'm trying to choose a wheeled base to hold my power tools.

The new rolling drawer seems ideal, but I've heard some complaints about it not being very effective unless it's on the ground. I want to avoid the top loading option because it can be pretty inconvenient to unload other bins from on top of it. I'm pretty set on getting the two-drawer bin, but I need suggestions for the wheeled base. Any tips before I make a purchase?

Definitely go for the rolling drawer! Sure, it's a bit pricey, but after using a top loader for years, I can say it's worth every penny. I've got a couple of top loading boxes I'm ready to swap out for that rolling drawer soon.

I don't really get why people say the rolling drawer isn't good unless it's on the ground. For me, using it that way is the only option. If I need to lift toolboxes, I prefer a different packout that's more portable.

If you're moving wire around often, consider getting the two-wheeled dolly that doubles as a hand truck. Throw a couple of two and three drawer boxes on top, and you're all set!
