I'm looking for recommendations on where to buy mulch for my garden. Currently, Wickes has a promotion for £8 on a 100L bag of mulch, which sounds like a good deal. You can check out the deal [here](https://www.wickes.co.uk/Wickes-Bark-Chippings---100L/p/185213). I'm mainly looking to top up my borders to help with evaporation. However, I don't have side access to my garden, so large bulk bags won't work for me. Are there better alternatives out there?

Honestly, £8 seems steep for that! I’d suggest checking out Chip Drop or see if a local arborist can hook you up—they often give away wood chips for free. You might get way more mulch without spending much at all!
I've been using Rocket Gro magic mulch that I found at Dobbies and other garden centers. It's lightweight and seems to really help my garden thrive—my Lupins are thriving and the slugs seem to stay away from it. Definitely worth checking out!
I just bought some of Wickes' multi-purpose compost, but it was pretty disappointing—full of junk like nails and stickers, and not well composted at all. Some other users noted the same issues in the reviews, so it might not be the best choice for mulch. Be cautious!

Yeah, it's really a mixed bag with them! I've had decent experiences once in a while, but I've also dealt with subpar products. A lot of commercial compost can have stuff from residential bins mixed in, which makes it hit or miss. They should really do a better job screening the materials.
