Best Places to Buy Pinto Beans for Planting

I'm looking to grow pinto beans this year, or any bean that would work well in a refried bean recipe, since it's one of my kids' favorite dishes. I've checked my usual seed suppliers like Johnny's, Victory Seeds, and Baker Creek, but I can't find any pinto beans. I'm wondering if I'm missing something with the terminology since I also want to ensure I get the right type. Can anyone suggest where I can find pinto beans to grow?

Honestly, you can just grab some dried pinto beans from the grocery store! They're perfectly fine for growing, and it's probably the easiest way to get started.

Exactly! Most seed companies don’t carry common beans because you can find them anywhere.

Yep, just throw the whole bag in your garden and watch them grow!

I picked up some pinto beans from a shop called Seed Geeks on Etsy if you're interested in trying that route!

It's good to know that dried beans from the store are an option, but remember, they might not be the best quality for planting. Hybrid beans aren't common, so it's usually better to go for reputable seed vendors. Harris is one I recommend for large packs. Just keep in mind that growing beans can take a lot of effort compared to buying them at the store—make sure you're up for the task!
