Best Places to Buy Straw for Strawberry Mulching?

Hey everyone! I have a bit of a silly question, but I'm really curious. Where do you all usually buy straw for mulching your strawberry plants? Should I get a whole bale, or is there anywhere I can just pick up a smaller bag? I know about Strulch, but it's pretty pricey. Any suggestions would be super helpful!

You can find straw at pet shops or big supermarkets! They often have small bags specifically for pets, which are usually cheaper and just the right amount for your strawberries. I'd suggest checking those places first.

You might want to call around to local farms. Sometimes you can find bales for just a few pounds! Plus, you'll be supporting local growers.

Good idea! I actually live near some farms, so that might just work out. Thanks!

If you have any friends with horses, see if you can snag a couple of slices from their bales. That's what I do; it works great and is usually free! Just double-check that what you're getting is straw and not hay or something mixed in.

Great tip! I hadn't thought about asking around. I'll definitely check with horse owners I know.
