Hey everyone! I've done my homework on houseplants, but I'm really struggling to find options that thrive in my basement suite. I keep my window shades closed for privacy during the day, so my place gets very little natural light. I do turn on my LED pot lights for a few hours in the evening, and I'm okay with opening my blinds a bit on weekends. However, I keep hearing about plants like snake plants and pothos that supposedly do well in low light, but they just keep dying on me! I need recommendations for plants that can genuinely survive in minimal light conditions—ideally, ones that don't just need 'bright indirect light.' I'm also considering using grow lights if that could help. Any tips?

I totally get your frustration! Plants generally need light to thrive, but some do better in lower light than others. Apart from grow lights, which I think you should definitely consider, there are some tough plants like the ZZ plant and some varieties of pothos that might hold up better. But remember, without sufficient light, they won't be as happy as they could be.
