Hey everyone! I'm getting ready to lay down a new lawn over an area of about 10 square meters. My plan is to spread a layer of old soil first, hit it with a weed killer to prevent any unwanted growth, and then add a fresh layer of soil about a week later. I've heard that glyphosate-based weed killers are the way to go. Can anyone recommend a good brand that's easy to find? Thanks!

Glyphosate only works on actively growing plants. If there's no green growth, it won't do anything. Using it as a precaution on soil isn’t really effective and can be bad for the environment. It's better to skip it if you don't have a lot of growth yet.
Honestly, using weed killer might not even be necessary. Weed seeds can blow in from various sources, so applying a chemical treatment could be overkill and harmful to the environment.

Thanks for the insights! I do have some green growth in the old soil, so I'm looking to get rid of that before topping it off with fresh soil.
