Best Security Options for My Garden Office?

Hey everyone! I work remotely and recently built my garden office at the far end of the yard. I want to keep it safe from potential burglars, so I've made sure the doors and windows are secure. However, the cheap shed alarms I bought (around £20) are not doing the trick; they aren't loud enough to be heard inside, and since they're placed inside, they don't really act as a deterrent. I've looked into other options, but they usually need mains power or WiFi, which could be cut easily. Any suggestions on effective security solutions?

It's interesting you mentioned cutting off the electricity. Most homes have underground lines these days, making it a bit tricky for burglars to just cut the power. How is your setup wired?

Consider battery-powered door/window/PIR sensors that have long ranges. If you're into smart home setups, Z-Wave LR is great for distance and battery life, so you can connect to your alarms from your house.

Have you thought about using a battery-operated WiFi security camera? They’re perfect for remote locations since they don’t need any mains power, and they can give you real-time alerts.

I’m setting up a workshop that’s also more than 100 feet from my house. I plan to use a remote alarm system that runs on WiFi (since I’ll need internet out there anyway) connected to a small battery backup. I doubt they’ll notice the tiny WiFi access point outside, and I’m really just trying to keep out the casual thieves rather than the pros.

True, unless burglars have been lurking around, they won’t know your alarms aren’t that loud. You might want to consider adding some outdoor wireless cameras; they can be quite effective as a deterrent. Just keep in mind they might hint there's something valuable inside your shed though!
