Best Shop Vac Recommendations for Woodworking

Hey fellow woodworkers! I'm diving into a bench table project and the dust situation is getting way out of hand! I'm thinking about picking up a shop vac along with one of those cyclone attachments that fit over a 5-gallon bucket. With Father's Day coming up, I hope to snag a good deal soon. I'm based in Canada, so I don't have access to Harbor Freight or some other popular brands here. What would you say is the best value shop vac? I've seen a DXV12P on sale – it's a 5.5hp with a 12-gallon tank. Would something like a 4.0 hp 6-gallon vac work well with a bucket cyclone? Plus, what mistakes should I avoid when picking out my first shop vac? Thanks a bunch!

I have a Dewalt stealthsonic paired with a dust deputy and a fiber drum, and it's pretty solid! Plan on upgrading to a proper dust collector soon, though. That said, the stealthsonic is quiet and works well with my setup! If you can find the 12-gallon 5.5 hp Dewalt DXV12P for CAD 140, that sounds like a good deal! Just make sure it's not too noisy for your space.

Oh, cool! The quiet feature sounds great! So, does the 5 hp setup hold up well with the dust deputy? That's good to know!
