Best Solutions for Dust Allergies: Buy or DIY an Air Purifier?

Hey everyone! I'm new here and could really use some advice. I've got a dust allergy, and even though I keep my room pretty clean, there's still a lot of dust lingering around. I'm trying to find a solid solution for this issue. I've looked into getting a HEPA air purifier, but I also thought about trying to build one myself since I'm somewhat handy. However, the DIY guide I found shows a large setup, and I'd prefer something more compact. What are your thoughts? Have any of you built your own purifier or found a decent one for purchase? Thanks for your help!

You can easily make a decent air purifier for about $40-$50! All you need is a 20-inch box fan and a 20x20 MERV 13 furnace filter. Just tape the filter onto the fan's intake side, and it’ll work wonders for allergens. I’ve been using this setup for years, and it cleans my living room air in 15-20 minutes. It's not HEPA, but it tackles dust, pollen, and dander like a champ!

This sounds awesome! I've been worried about spending too much on a commercial purifier, but this DIY method sounds both affordable and effective.

Honestly, I’d recommend just buying an air purifier. The filters can be pricey, so you don’t want to waste time trying to create a solution that’s already out there!
