Best Sources for Growing Garlic and Onions This Winter?

Asked By GreenThumbX23 On

Hey everyone! I'm planning to grow garlic and onions this winter but I'm a bit lost on where to buy them. I know I need hard neck garlic and short day onions, but I'd love to hear your favorite varieties or suppliers! My local nurseries are out, so I'm stuck with online options. Any recommendations or tips you could share would be super helpful. Thanks a lot! I'm located in Pennsylvania, USA (zone 7b).

I highly recommend checking out Territorial Seed Company. They’ve been an awesome source for me, and I've had much better success with them compared to other places I've tried.

Depending on whether you’re looking for onion seeds, sets, or plants, Dixondale Farms is a great choice. They've got a fantastic selection, and their plants are often found in many local nurseries too. Just a heads-up though, you might actually want long day onions if you're growing up north. That's what tends to do well in those regions!

Oh, really? I thought I needed the kind that’s okay with less sunlight! I definitely need to double-check my notes on this. Thanks for the tip!
