I'm getting ready to paint my kitchen and I've noticed some small chunks missing where one wall meets another. I'm looking for a solution to smooth out those edges before I paint. Is there a type of tape or adhesive cover that can help me achieve a smooth finish? Any other tips would also be appreciated!

If the chunk missing is really big, I’d suggest plastering it instead. For smaller areas, drywall mud should work just fine, but plaster might give you a smoother finish overall.
It sounds like you need to repair your drywall! I recommend using drywall tape, which is just a kind of paper. First, fill in the holes with drywall compound (often called 'mud') using a taping knife. Then, lay the tape over the compound and put on another layer of mud on top of the tape. Once it dries, you can paint over it. If you're using premixed compound, you can add some water to adjust its consistency. Just make sure to wait for each layer to dry before moving on to the next!
Thanks, that's super helpful!
Not sure how to insert a picture, sorry!

I'm trying to avoid plaster if possible!
