Best Temporary Cover for a Through-Wall AC Unit?

Asked By CoolGadget23 On

I'm looking for a way to temporarily seal up an old through-wall AC unit I plan to remove. The AC unit is installed right below a window, and I want to ensure the opening doesn't stay exposed since I might have a tenant in the future. I'm hoping to find a solution—maybe a metal or plastic cover that can fit over the opening—something I've seen often in large apartment buildings. Any suggestions on what works best for this kind of situation?

You might want to check out something like this: [Breezeblocker](https://www.amazon.com/BREEZEBLOCKER-Outdoor-Conditioner-Coldpoint-Friederich/dp/B009S7XR7O?th=1). They have different types of covers that could work for what you need!

That's a start, but I'm more looking for something that will cover the hole since I'm getting rid of the AC unit.

I assume there’s a metal sleeve in there? You could fill the hole with rigid foam insulation and then just screw on a piece of painted plywood from the outside. It could look decent and keep things insulated.

Is there any premade option available? I often see 'Fedders' covers and thought it’d be something I could easily grab.
