Best Temporary Flooring Ideas for Dorm Rooms Without Damaging Linoleum?

I'm currently living in a dorm that has some pretty unattractive linoleum, and since I'll be here for at least two more years, I'd love to cover it up without making any permanent changes or damaging the floor. I'm looking for suggestions on removable flooring options that I can clean easily with a wet mop, just like the linoleum. What are the safest materials I can use? Should I consider peel-and-stick vinyl tiles, vinyl rolls, carpet tiles, or something else? Thanks in advance for your help! ❤️

Honestly, I would steer clear of peel-and-stick tiles! They can be tough to remove and might damage the linoleum underneath. Instead, you could go for sheet vinyl to cover the existing flooring, or some floating LVP. An area rug could also work well if you want something that's easy to take up whenever.

When I was in the dorms, a guy I knew just laid down some carpet as a large rug. It wasn’t permanent—he just cut it to size, and it worked great. You might also consider using floating vinyl planks or laminate flooring if your room has mostly right angles. They fit snugly and don't damage the underlying floor.
