Hey everyone! I'm in the process of renovating my old bathroom and want to add a clean line of caulk around the edge of my bathtub. However, my past attempts at caulking have turned out pretty rough, with uneven lines and a messy finish. I'm looking for any tips or tricks to help me get that smooth, professional look. Thanks in advance!

One trick that really helps is to use blue masking tape on both sides of where you're caulking. Just run the caulk line and then smooth it with your finger. Once you're done, peel off the tape for a sharp edge! It does take a bit longer, but it's totally worth it. Sometimes it can be tricky, though, so don't get discouraged if it doesn’t work perfectly the first time!
Definitely keep your finger wet while smoothing the caulk! You want to create a smooth flat area rather than just pushing it down. And before you start, try to let the caulk sit tip-up for a week; it helps with air bubbles. Also, I'd recommend using silicone-based caulk since it's waterproof and holds up well around wet areas, but just know you can't paint over it. There's a great YouTube video I found on choosing caulk, which I think you’ll find useful!
Wow, I hadn't thought of storing the tubes like that! Thanks for the tip!
Yeah, I've had mixed results with the tape method too, but when it works, it really looks great!
