Hey everyone! I'm feeling a bit anxious about sowing small seeds, especially since I've only had luck with larger seeds in my gardening journey so far. I want to grow Forget-Me-Nots, but I'm not sure I'm doing it right. I'm considering using cut 2L milk jugs to sow them directly outside, but I wonder if it's too late or too early for that kind of over-wintering approach. I'm located in East Lothian, so any tips or advice you can share would be greatly appreciated!

Mixing your small seeds with a bit of fine sand can help you see where you’ve planted them better! Another cool method is to start them on damp paper towels and transplant them to tiny pots when they germinate. Cover the pots with your milk jugs to create a mini greenhouse effect. Once frosts are gone, you can safely plant them in a sheltered area of your garden.
You’re actually in luck! Forget-Me-Nots don’t require cold stratification, so it's perfectly fine to start them in those milk jugs. This way, you can get them started earlier and shield them from any frost while they grow.
