I'm completely new to this, so please explain like I'm five! I need to cut 1/4 inch basswood sheets into very specific pieces that are .83 inches by .6 inches. I need at least 800 of these little shapes. What tools would work best for me? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

If you're not comfortable with a table saw, I recommend a hobby or craft table saw for those small pieces. It'll give you the precision you need without the overwhelm of a bigger saw. Plus, they won’t break the bank! Just be cautious, as the combination of 'hobby' and 'table saw' does sound a bit risky.
Consider using a high-end plunge saw in conjunction with a miter saw. First, you can cut the basswood sheets into strips with the plunge saw, then cut those strips into rectangles with the miter saw. Setting up jigs will keep your cuts consistent and safe!
A CNC machine would be ideal for precision cuts, but if you're looking for something more manual, a mini benchtop chop saw with a 2-3 inch blade could work too. It's not as intimidating as a table saw and you can set up a jig for repeatable cuts. Just make sure to use a fine tooth blade for a clean finish!
