Hey everyone! I've got this old camper that's way too rough to tow, and the local scrap yards won't take it whole. Since I'm a mechanic and have experience with heavy projects, I feel pretty confident about handling it, but I'd love some advice on the best tools to use. I need to cut this 30ft camper down into pieces small enough to fit in a dumpster, and I'm thinking of renting a tool since my only option is a reciprocating saw. I'm aware that a torch is a bad idea due to fire hazards with the camper's construction materials. Also, I've got an old dodge van that needs to be cut up, but the body is super rusty. I've already removed the glass, but I've got to deal with the rest. Any suggestions on the best cutting tools to turn this camper into scrap? Lastly, has anyone ever converted a camper frame into a car hauler? I'm curious about that too!

I would suggest using a combination of a Sawzall and an angle grinder. I cut up an old pickup camper and had no issues. The Sawzall works wonders on the body, and if you need to cut through anything tougher, the grinder's your best friend.
If you want a bit more power, I’d recommend getting a gas-powered demo saw or even a circular saw with a good metal cutting blade. It’ll save you tons of time compared to a Sawzall.
That’s the setup I’d go for if I could rent it. It’ll make the job so much easier, especially with all the cutting you'll have to do!
Using a Sawzall is a great choice! I saw someone do the same thing with a K-car, and it fit perfectly in the dumpster. Just make sure you have a good supply of blades, especially the demolition kind. You and your friends can tackle it in no time!
For sure! I had to cut down a 30-foot Argosy camper and did it in under an hour. A Sawzall can really get the job done fast!
Definitely! A Sawzall with a carbide blade will handle most of what you need, and you can do a lot with just that and the grinder!
