I have some screws where only a tiny bit of the pointed tips stick out on the other side, and I'm looking for the best way to sand or cut them down. I tried using 120 and 180 grit sanding blocks, but they just get damaged by the screw tips. Any suggestions on what tools or methods I should use?

Consider removing the screws and using a bench grinder to grind down the tips. It takes a bit of time for the grinder to speed up, but it really smooths everything out nicely without leaving sharp edges.
You might want to just back the screws out a bit and file them down instead. It's often the quickest solution all around. Just be careful not to damage the wood.
If the screws are sticking out more than you'd like, using a cutoff wheel in a drill can do the trick if that's what you have on hand. For a more effective approach, an angle grinder with an abrasive disk is your best bet, but just be ready for some surface damage alterations.
Yeah, the grinder works wonders! Just be cautious to keep it steady while cutting.

That's a solid suggestion! Filing is usually easier than messing with power tools if the screws are in a tough spot.
