Best Trees for Temporary Pot Life Before Planting?

I'm assisting with a wedding where the couple wants to have a unity ceremony involving a tree that will eventually be planted at their first home. Since they're renting and can't plant it yet, I'm looking for tree options that can thrive in a pot for about 2-5 years. They can keep the tree outside in their yard but need something suitable for growing in containers until they settle down. We're in growing zone 5b/6a, located in Central Colorado. Any suggestions?

Figs could be another good choice. They can thrive in pots and will be great for the couple's future home.

Consider getting a Japanese maple! They’re really beautiful, grow slowly, and do well in containers. Just keep in mind they might need some protection from the heat during the summer since Colorado can get pretty intense.
